Public grievance redressal mechanism in place: Government
    India Gazette
    Thursday 29th July, 2010
    (IANS)

An appropriate mechanism is in place for redressing public grievances, the central government said Thursday, pointing out that 58,546 of the 59,678 complaints received have been forwarded to the concerned ministries and departments.

'The Centralized Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) developed by the department has facilitated lodging of grievances online from any geographical location,' Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Prithviraj Chavan said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.

The department reviews the pendancies in ministries and departments on a monthly basis.

'As per the department guidelines, a grievance should be normally redressed within two months of its receipt. But the data on departmental action taken by different ministers and departments against defaulting officials is not maintained centrally,' he pointed out.
