    Saturday 20th March, 2010
    (IANS)

Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee Saturday night flagged off the Kolkata-Delhi luxury tourist train Maharajas' Express from here.

The train is the latest offering from the railways on the lines of the palace-on-wheels to generate revenue and help tourists explore India. It possesses elegant features to give the guests a feeling of royalty.

The train has five deluxe cabins, six junior suites, two suites and one grand presidential suite.

The charges for the presidential suite are $2,500 (Rs.113,762) per person per day.

The train will cover pilgrimage centres like Gaya, Varanasi, the Bandhabgarh forests, Khajuraho, Agra and Gwalior before terminating in Delhi.

The journey has been christened Celestial India.
