    (IANS)

Nine people were killed and 13 injured Tuesday when a train rammed into a tractor-trolley in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur district, police said.

The Farrukhabad-Kanpur passenger train hit the vehicle, carrying about 25 people, at an unmanned crossing in Shivrajpur town, 80 km from here.

'Six people on the tractor-trolley died on the spot, while three died in the afternoon during medical treatment. The injured are being treated in hospital and the condition of two is stated to be critical,' a police official told reporters.

Those killed were four women and five men.

'All those riding the tractor-trolley were farmers of the Udhainiveda and Aima villages of Kanpur and were going to sell their produce in the city markets,' he added.
