Bhutan hopes for political solution to Darjeeling problems
    India Gazette
    Thursday 17th December, 2009
    (IANS)

Bhutan Thursday hoped that the problems in Darjeeling arising out of the Gorkha Janamukti Morcha's agitation for a separate Gorkhaland would be solved through a 'political mechanism'.

'I am very fond of Darjeeling. I hope that the problem of Darjeeling will be resolved through a political mechanism. I think they would find out some solution to resolve the issue,' Bhutanese Foreign Minister Lyonto Ugyen Tshering told reporters here, after inaugurating a new consulate office here.

The three sub-division of Darjeeling district - Darjeeling, Kurseyong and Kalimpong - in northern West Bengal have been on the boil for quite some time following the demand for a separate state of Gorkhaland.
