National Paints opens first plant in India

Multinational paint manufacturer National Paints Saturday opened its first factory in India at Angamali industrial area in Kerala.
The plant will have a daily production capacity of 120,000 litres, the company said.
It is planning to invest Rs.500 crore in India in three years.

Wipro Infotech unveils innovation hub
Bangalore: IT and business transformation services provider Wipro Infotech has set up a technology innovation hub 'Sangam' with global IT majors IBM, Microsoft, Sun Microsystems and Teradata to develop innovative IT solutions.
Located in the company's electronics city campus as a centre of excellence, the hub will evaluate tools and technologies to incubate customer specific solutions and follow its innovation process framework, the IT bellwether said Saturday.

Sony showcases chip-based machines
Bangalore: Sony Manufacturing Systems Corp has showcased six chip-based machines at the Electronica India trade event here for the electronics manufacturing services (EMS) and components industry.
The hi-tech machines include a chip mounter to manufacture high precision equipment for EMS and electronic component makers, the Japanese firm said in a statement here Saturday.

IBM India leads in blade server market
Bangalore: Global IT major IBM became the lead player in x86 blade server market in India, with 51 percent market share in the second quarter as against 18 percent contraction witnessed in the segment, market research firm International Data Corp (IDC) said here Saturday.
The Indian subsidiary also remained top with 23 percent revenue share increase year-on-year, the company claimed in a statement.
The revamped server has Intel Xeon 5500 chips and can handle 3.5 times more bandwidth for enterprise computing at lower power usage.

Oracle ties up with Pearson
Bangalore: Business software major Oracle has selected Pearson Vue as its test delivery provider for certifying IT professionals and managers worldwide.
With about 5,000 authorised test centres across 165 countries, Pearson will deliver about 120 Oracle certification exams through a single registration and scheduling system, the Pearson subsidiary said in a statement here Saturday.
The tie-up will also enable Oracle to enhance online security to protect the value of IT certification.
