    July 19 2006 at 05:30PM

Istanbul - A police helicopter crashed in the southern Turkish resort city of Antalya on Wednesday, killing four people and injuring another, state-run agency Anatolian reported.

Police could not confirm the report, which said the helicopter had been on a monitoring exercise. NTV television said the four dead were all police.

Antalya is one of Turkey's largest tourist centres on the Mediterranean coast. Local media reported the helicopter came down near the Talya Hotel.

Television images showed firemen extinguishing the blaze from the blackened remains of a helicopter on the street.

It was not clear why the helicopter crashed.
