    (IANS)

The Delhi Police Saturday claimed to have solved the murder of former Indian Airlines employee B.D. Sharma, found dead Thursday, by arresting his nephew.

Bikal Bhanot, 27, was arrested Friday for killing his uncle and decamping with cash worth Rs.100,000 and other foreign currency.
"The accused was aware that Sharma has withdrawn money from the bank to meet his children settled in the US. He observed the movements of the deceased and finding an opportune moment when Sharma was alone, he executed his plan," Deputy Commissioner of Police Sharad Aggarwal told reporters here.
The body of 70-year-old Sharma was found by his wife when she returned from a temple at about 3.35 p.m. Thursday.
Bhanot was heavily in debt and also needed money to maintain a lavish lifestyle, the police said.
"The accused made a friendly entry into the house. He gagged Sharma and slit his throat and then stabbed him once on his chest," Aggarwal said.
Bhanot has also revealed involvement of one of his close relative in the murder.
"Bhanot even visited the house when Sharma's wife phoned him to tell about the murder. He feigned to be in deep grief. He was caught with the looted cash in his car," Aggarwal said.
