28-year-old arrested for attempted armed robbery in Kalkaska Co.

RAPID CITY - Kalkaska County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call from the clerk of Valley Party Store in Rapid City.

The clerk stated a male subject pulled a knife on her and demanded money. A customer interrupted the robbery and the subject fled on foot.

An off-duty deputy responded to the area and observed an individual who matched the suspect's description. When the suspect, a 28-year-old from Alden, recognized the deputy as a police officer, he surrendered.

Detectives from the Kalkaska County Sheriff's Office are continuing the investigation.
