Whoopy doo! won't even have to walk on rough ground anymore.
Isn't there something more worthwhile the people who invented this could be doing with their brains and money instead of fleecing fashion victims?
Typical, reaction from one of Scotlands many doom and gloom merchants, alot of scientific study and money has been put into these shoes and all it gets is a snidey remark from someone who hasnt even worn a pair, if you had read the article it mentioned the benefits on health aswell, with doctors referring patients to the shoes, just amazes me the attitude of many Scots, infact it doesnt amaze me any more weve become a nation of grumps and complainers.
I actually have a pair of the black MBT trainers and they do do something. My legs have a vaguely achey "exercised" feeling, I think they basically make walking a little more difficult so you burn a bit more energy per metre you walk.
The black trainers are a bit more subtle than the other ones and they also give me an extra (needed)inch or two in height over normal shoes.
Brian I see you live in Dingwall!
Alternatively you could put stones in your shoes for a similar effect, or just remove the soles altogether for that authentic masai experience
£130 could buy enough duty free alcohol to provide the same sensation for far longer than you will ever wear the trainers.
Would a couple of plastic bags taped on your feet and as Tino says, a suitable layer of stones, have the same effect.
I find it hilarious people are spending huge amounts of money to simulate walking barefoot!
My family has a long tradition of walking barefoot everywhere. We have fewer foot injuries than other people who wear shoes - it makes us more aware of how we move. The eye automatically scans as you go without conscious effort.Barefoot driving is also very comfortable; in some ways safer as you use all the muscles of the foot for control, and of course the foot is much stronger.
Unfortunately in recent years people have grown very narrow minded so we do get harassed by rude comments. Managers of shops fuss about "health and safety" which is rubbish.WARNING If you want to try it takes about 4 weeks 90% full time at it to harden the sole and train your scanning faculty.
There are not many stones in the Masai Mara -- if you've ever run our walked there barefoot it is an UNFORGETABLE EXPERIENCE. The red soft earth is a tremendous shock absorber and generates significant bounce back. The locals run, walk and move around with unmatched gracefulness.
For those of us who live elsewhere the MBT is a tool that that transforms hard flat surfaces into the soft and natural ground of the Masai Mara; thus making walking, standing and our whole day a lot more pleasurable.
At our store in Boca Raton we've seen all the nay-sayers from Dingwall to Tasmania try on the MBT and eat their comments after a few steps.
If you can't make it to a local store...you lads should try a pair....
