    Kolkata's new studio apartments to be unvelied Saturday

    Xanadu, the upcoming trendy studio apartment project that is targeted at young professionals and NRIs, will be unveiled here Saturday.

    The New York-style one-room, multi-facility studio apartments by real estate group Siddha will be launched by Sarod player-brothers Amaan and Ayaan Ali Bangash, who will also perform on the occasion, the firm said here.

    'It will be open for public booking from May 11,' Sanjay Jain, managing director of Siddha, said at a press conference Friday.

    Xanadu, which caters to the needs of upwardly mobile young professional. non-resident Bengalis and newly married couples, combines a living room, bedroom and kitchenette into a single unit. The project coming up in Kolkata's IT township Rajarhat is India's first ownership studio apartment.

    These apartments are equipped with swipe code entry and fire protection and have smart kitchenettes, power gym, WiFi, broadband, health club and spa, swimming pool and even a meditation room.

    Flats are priced in the range of Rs.1.5 million to Rs.2.1 million and furnishings will cost an additional Rs.200,000 to Rs.300,000.

    Investment for Phase I of the project is Rs.600 million, occupying a land area of 2.5 acres. Phase II will see an investment of Rs.400 million for 2 acres.

    Siddha plans to complete this project by June 2010.
