Court asks Red Chillies to file affidavit on ticket row
    India Gazette
    Friday 28th March, 2008
    (IANS)

A city court Friday directed a cricket members' forum and Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment to file affidavits on the ticket distribution row for the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches to be played at the Eden Gardens here.

Judge Murari Mohan Ghosh, however, did not pass any injunction as prayed for by the petitioners Cricket Members' Forum of Bengal on selling of tickets.

Appearing for the petitioners, lawyer Ajay Sanyal contended that according to the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) constitution, the life, annual and associate members were entitled to watch all matches - except charity ties - at Eden Gardens free of cost.

He claimed that the rights and privileges of all the CAB members were being encroached upon by asking them to pay to be at the matches that begin April 20.

CAB counsel Narendranath Chakraborty prayed for time stating that his client had not yet received any notice from the petitioners and was not prepared for the case.

Red Chillies Entertainment owns the Kolkata franchise under the name Kolkata Knight Riders and would organise the matches at the Eden Gardens as per IPL rules. CAB is a facilitator for the matches.
