FC Dynamo Kyiv midfielder Ruslan Rotan is expected to be out of action for six weeks after undergoing surgery on his ankle.

Six weeks out
Rotan had the operation in Antwerp and will stay in Belgium for the rest of the week before returning to Kiev for more treatment. The Ukrainian international, who sustained the injury during his country's UEFA EURO 2008™ Group B victory against Georgia on 6 September, should be able to resume training in a month but will need a further two weeks to regain full fitness.

Surprise defeat
As a consequence the 24-year-old is unlikely to be available for Dynamo's UEFA Champions League campaign before Matchday 5 on 21 November when they visit FC Steaua Bucuresti. Rotan missed his side's surprise 4-1 home defeat by Steaua on Matchday 1 because of the injury. Dynamo travel to Real Madrid CF on Tuesday looking for their first points in Group E.
