UN anti-torture committee points at Indonesia
    India Gazette
    Friday 16th May, 2008

The UN Committee Against Torture has reported that Indonesian police, armed forces and intelligence services regularly use torture on criminal suspects to extract confessions.

The committee said it was deeply concerned about the allegations of abuse by Indonesia's justice system and the total impunity for those responsible.

Committee members also said they had grave concerns about the disproportionate use of violence by the so-called 'morality police', particularly against women.

The UN committee has called on Jakarta to take measures to tackle the situation.

UN anti-torture committee points at Indonesia

US aid breakdown $31m to train police ..... . . $16m to build counterterrorism unit. . . . $4m for army counterterrorism training...... The US are the leaders in the feild of torture. How bout the U.N get out of a country that most of the world consider the biggest terrorists of them all. Just look at the Army of the Americas where america trained most of the brutal dictators of the americas where the same tactics as mentioned in this artical are common practices. Like in Vietnam with death squads we see the same in Iraq. How bout we do something of the terror unleashed by the U.S

    UN hypocrites !

thankyou Anonymous for expressing appropriately what i wanted to do similarly..additionally I would say interalia.. 1) please donot e-mail this story far less to a friend because it is a piece of US propaganda..2) it would be immoral to do so knowing Guantanamo managed by US is many times worst than ISA..3) UN seems biased here . what about those tortures and unnecessary deaths in Iraq ( Abu Ghaib ?) caused by Uncle Sam’s ..sorry i mean Bush’s “mercenaries” .. 4) UN anti Torture is more aptly called anti Terror ..then US automatically ranks as first culprits.. bombing and killing hundreds of hapless innocents ..children and pregnant women.. with the most modern weapons and from afar supplied by US corporate blood suckers ostensibly for one or two “suspects” either in Iraq or Afghanistan and no doubt tipped by those who collect the “rewards” to live on..So what do you have to say UN C’ttee..heh ?

    UN, Uturn, what's united? Nothing.

What comes first? Terrorists or torturists? Chicken or the egg?
