Reno man accused of leading police on high speed chase

A suspected drunk driver is in the Washoe County jail accused of leading Nevada Highway Patrol troopers on a chase early Friday morning.

The incident happened around 1:20 AM.

NHP Trooper Chuck Allen says 24-year-old Virgil Leland Rambeau ran a red light at 4th and Sierra and nearly struck a pedestrian. Allen says Rambeau fled when a trooper attempted to stop him for that violation.

According to Allen, Rambeau attempted to run down troopers when they deployed spike strips.

Police were successful in stopping the suspect's vehicle on South McCarran, south of Longley Lane.

Rambeau is facing various charges in connection ,including two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
